Assessment

“Early identification of students who are gifted is an important element in planning and delivering appropriate educational programs for these students” (BC Ministry of Education, p.52, 2011).

Some teaching suggestions

  • Lessons should meet his/her level of knowledge (not too hard yet challenging enough, not too easy yet                                     motivating enough).
  • Use multiple intelligence to his/her advantage.
  • Allow the student to complete projects based on his/her interests.
  • Allow peer teaching, (academically based) extracurricular activities, academic contests (i.e. spelling bee contest).
  • Child may not be gifted in all fields, use strength to overcome weaknesses.
