What is Intellectual Impairment?

Basic information

Intellectual impairment has an effect on a child’s learning, thinking, remembering, solving skills, adaptive behavior, as well as making sense of the world. People with intellectual impairment are fully capable of learning. This impairment affects communication skills, social skills and self-care skills. This impairment occurs in a range of severity and may be associated with other disabilities. Some may require support with everyday life whereas others may not.
