What is Assessment?
Assessment is the process of testing, exploring, identifying and measuring your child’s skills and abilities. The information obtained from the assessment is used to develop a learning plan to meet your child’s education needs. This process best suit both the parents and the school which communicates the educational expectations and progress of the observed child.
One must note that assessment is an ongoing process that allows ideal programming purposes to remain up to date and efficient to the child’s level of progress and needs. This ongoing process should take place as soon as the observed child’s ability to integrate in the school curriculum is noted.
It is the classroom teacher’s responsibility to observe, gather information and collaborate with the parents to seek additional resources that may help the child when determining if the child is exceptional.
